Morgan Brings The SuperSport To America. The Engine Isn’t

The Approval

It’s here. Finally. The Morgan SuperSport got the nod to sell in the US under the FAST Act. Only fifty units exist for the 2026 model year. The price tag hits $120,00.

Getting any Morgan onto American soil used to be a bureaucratic nightmare. Legal reasons that put everyone to sleep kept them out for years. Then the Plus Four returned in 2024. It ran on a BMW B46 turbo-four. But the hot rod? The six-cylinder Supersport? That was forbidden fruit. Not anymore.

The Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act lets small brands import up to 325 cars a year. These have to resemble models made over twenty-five years ago. Morgan fits. Production kicks off in August. Deliveries start in September 202. America hasn’t had a real hardcore Morgan since the Aero SuperSports in the early tens.

The Engine Swap

There is a catch.

Morgan didn’t bother homologating the BMW B58 engine Europeans drive. They just shipped over the four-cylinder. So while the continent enjoys a 340-horsepower six-pot (or even the new SuperSport 40 0 variant), we get the 255-horsepower unit from the Plus Four. Same powertrain. Same ZF eight-speed automatic. No manual option exists.

A bit of a gut punch.

You can complain about the power loss. You might even scream. But does horsepower matter if the car weighs less than two-and-a-half thousand pounds? Probably not. The chassis is the story.

Chassis Over Cylinders

The CXV-Generation Platform sheds weight everywhere. The frame, including front and rear subframes, weighs only about 225 pounds. Total mass sits near 2,500 pounds. That is light.

Steering is sharper. The ratio is fourteen percent quicker. Suspension geometry got revised for better body control. Aerodynamics improved, dropping drag by five percent and lift by twenty percent. It handles. Really.

Want it stiffer? Get the Dynamic Handling Pack. It adds Nitron dampers with 24 clicks of adjustment. Swap the steel hood for carbon. That saves another ten percent of weight. The wheels are new too, available in eighteen- and nineteen-inch sizes. The lightest Morgan has ever made. Shod in Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires as standard.

Looks And Feel

This is the first time in a decade Morgan has integrated a trunk into the sweeping rear design. You can choose a carbon composite hard top or a folding soft one. The look changes entirely.

Inside? American Walnut spans the console and dash. There are eleven finishes total. It smells expensive. It looks traditional. It drives modern.

The Bottom Line

Start pricing at $119, 99 5. Before tax. Before destination charges.

It costs less than a Porsche 911 Carrera. It has less power. It has better vibes.

The good news: Morgan’s best performer is coming. The bad news: It lost two cylinders.
