It feels too good to be true for a new BMW electric SUV, but the deal exists. And it’s not some base-model joke either. The iX1 is the entry point into the Bavarian brand’s desirable electric range, packaging style, tech, and those famous driving dynamics into something you can actually afford.

Living with It

You’d expect a BMW to drive like a BMW, and the iX1 does not disappoint. The steering is sharp. The handling is agile. It feels sporty, despite the plastic wheels that come with EV life.

Yet it doesn’t sacrifice comfort. The cabin is hushed. The ride soaks up bumps without complaint.

It’s also practical. The Sport trim—the entry level—gets you a lot. Think 17-inch alloys, LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, and an electric tailgate. The curved display setup is the main event inside, linking the dashboard and infotainment into one glass pane. It’s intuitive. It’s nice to use.

Space? There’s plenty of room inside, plus a boot that swallows 490 litres of gear.
