Mercedes-AMG is developing a new GT Black Series, set to be its most aggressively-tuned road car yet. The model will draw heavily from the brand’s latest-generation GT3 race car, suggesting a direct transfer of track-focused engineering to the production version.
Performance Beyond the Current GT 63 Pro
The current GT 63 Pro already stands as one of the most track-capable cars in the GT lineup, producing 603bhp and accelerating to 62mph in 3.2 seconds. However, AMG has confirmed the upcoming Black Series will surpass these figures significantly. The new model will likely feature an updated version of AMG’s flat-plane-crank V8 engine, previously seen in the 2020 GT Black Series, which delivered 720bhp and a 0-62mph time of around 3.2 seconds. The engine is also planned for a limited-production Mythos model, ensuring the latest technology will be shared across AMG’s high-performance offerings.
Track-Focused Engineering and Aerodynamics
AMG is developing both the GT3 race car and the new Black Series in parallel. This approach allows for direct integration of track-derived improvements into the road car, particularly in areas like aerodynamics, cooling, and chassis setup. Prototypes have already been observed with more aggressive aero packages, indicating a clear focus on circuit performance.
