Ferrari Amalfi Spider: Open-Top Performance Unleashed

13

The Ferrari Amalfi is now available in a Spider variant, bringing open-top thrills to the high-performance coupe. While slightly heavier than its hardtop sibling, the Spider retains the potent V8 engine and blistering acceleration that defines the Amalfi lineage.

Retractable Roof and Design Details

The Spider’s retractable hardtop mechanism operates in just 13.5 seconds at speeds up to 60km/h. When retracted, the roof folds down to a compact 220mm thickness, minimizing intrusion into the 172-liter boot space (down from 255L in the coupe).

Ferrari offers six roof colors: four traditional fabrics and two shimmering “technical” materials that can be extended to interior surfaces for a cohesive look. Contrast stitching is also available for customization.

Performance and Engineering

The Spyder employs the same twin-turbo 3.9-liter V8 as the coupe, producing 477kW (760Nm) and accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in 3.3 seconds despite an 86kg weight increase to 1556kg.

The Amalfi Spider features an adaptive rear wing that adjusts automatically based on speed (low drag, medium downforce, high downforce). An electrically-activated wind deflector also reduces turbulence in the cabin.

Interior and Practicality

Described as a 2+ seater, the Amalfi Spider includes a small rear bench intended for children or extra storage. Buyers can choose from 20-inch wheels with Pirelli, Goodyear, or Bridgestone tires.

The Spider also introduces Rosso Tramonto, an exclusive exterior color available only on this variant. Ferrari claims the five-layer roof provides sound and heat insulation comparable to a retractable hardtop.

Pricing and Availability

Pricing for the Amalfi Spider has not yet been announced, but is expected to exceed the coupe’s $503,261 starting price. The open-top variant expands the Amalfi’s appeal to drivers seeking a more visceral and engaging driving experience.
